Personal finance apps want your bank credentials and your trust. Auren wants neither — it runs entirely on your machine, and its AI is genuinely local: one policy file refuses to talk to any model host that isn’t loopback. When no model is available, it degrades to deterministic heuristics rather than phoning home.
The distinctive piece is receipt intelligence: Apple Vision for Latin scripts, a local vision model for Telugu and Devanagari, then a four-pass canonicalization so Bier, बीयर, and చికెన్ resolve to the same ledger items.
Corrections are events, never edits. The ledger is truth; truth is append-only.
